The Dance
Posted: October 31, 2011 Filed under: Inspiration Leave a commentFor those of you that know me well, you know I have a bizarrely intense love of country music for a New Englander. I have an all time favorite song from this genre and it is The Dance, by Garth Brooks. The lyrics tell of an intense love lost but despite the acute heartbreak, the singer insists that lost love is better than a life absent of love. I believe it speaks to living fully, taking risks, and making oneself vulnerable. Reach fully to experience the intense joys of life no matter what it may cost. Whether it is relationships, career, self-love…..do it with your whole heart, do it right, knowing that you can survive any challenge.
Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared ‘neath the stars alone
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you’d ever say goodbye
And now I’m glad I didn’t know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I’d of had to miss the dance
Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn’t I a king
But if I’d only known how the king would fall
Hey, who’s to say you know I might have chanced it all
And now I’m glad I didn’t know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I’d of had to miss the dance
Yes, my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I’d of had to miss the dance
